Here in this passage projects that the message of Jesus is for all. People from all occupations are thirsty and hungry of the good news. During the time of Jesus, there are no other ways of communication as we have today. No television, radio, computers and cell phones. They are communicating person to person. It shows that in order to have fresh news or stories one should meet somebody to know what’s happening around. Moreover, by using the senses they will be able to learn or to get something. The Lord is communicating to us person to person. He has lot of things to tell us personally without discriminations. He wanted us to listen, and in listening we will be able to get the message,”…everyone must quick to listen, but slow to speak…”James 1:19. Listening is a part of communication. By listening, we will gain wisdom. We will learn something. In listening to God, healing takes place. Peace of mind, heart and soul. For Gods message is love.
His Love Heals! Jesus came to the world, knocking on our door, the door of our hearts, “Listen! I stand at the door and knock. If any hear my voice and open the door, I will come into their house and eat with them and they will eat with me.” Rev.3:20. To heal us of whatever sickness or disease we have. Physically, emotionally and spiritually. What we see and what we always expect is the physical healing that can be seen by our naked eyes. Nevertheless, great miracle of healing is “Metanoia” the change and healing of our hearts, our soul where Jesus is in control. The humanness of our being is still projected and seen.
Human being is living in a material world. His mind, heart, and spirit are focused on material possessions. We do not mind our spirit where the Lord Jesus is concern. Our hearts, the center of Jesus’ healing power, His Love.
The paralyzed man was brought to Jesus for healing. In medicine, the damage of brain cells or tissues of the nervous system particularly in the brain cause paralization. The brain controls almost all the organ systems in the body. If the brain is damaged one may experience paralization. Almost all parts of the body depend on the brain. The body cannot function well if the brain is damaged.

In our spiritual life, God is our brain if we do not have a direct relationship with God we cannot do anything, “…for you can do nothing without me.” Jn15:5. We cannot function well. We are just parts of our body, and without God in our lives, we are paralyzed. We need God in our lives, so that we as parts can function well and we have to function well for Gods greater glory. Paralyzed man needs Jesus. He was brought to Jesus because he needs healing.
We need Jesus in our lives not just for healing but also for deliverance from the bondage of sin. We need Jesus in order to be saved. The crowd finds a way in order to bring the paralyzed man in front of Jesus. They brought the man on the roof, the tiles and other things and let the paralyzed brought down for Jesus to see him and hear him. It tells us that we have to remove the baggages, the blocks, the hindrances of our lives in order for us to reach Jesus. Baggage’s would mean material bondages, sin, pride etc. that would block us in seeing Jesus and receive healing. What Jesus is concerned of us is our Faith.
He is looking on us on how much faith do we have for Him. If we have faith in Him, we should trust Him. We entrust to Him our life even the very core of our humanness. We have to surrender everything like the paralyzed man, for he cannot do anything without God. Moreover, if we do so, our faith will heal us because Jesus was given the authority by the Father to forgive our sinfulness. Sin is the cause of our paralyzation, physically and spiritually. Sin has greatest effect in the paralyzation of our soul but because our soul cannot be separated from the body when somebody is still alive, the spirit is deeply affected. Our body also suffers if our soul is suffering.
Jesus’ words “Get up, pick up your bed and go home” Lk.5:24. Jesus never condemns a sinner. He always forgives. He forgives man whenever we approached Him and ask for forgiveness, “If they pray to me and Repent and Turn away from the evil they have been doing, I will hear them in heaven forgive their sins and make their land prosperous again” 2Chron.7:14.
He is telling us to stand up fixed ourselves for God have forgiven us. We are Healed. Go back home to our heavenly Father for His love heals. His love is eternal. He loves you. He tells us to fix ourselves, meaning whatever mess our sins have brought us we have to wipe and clean ourselves forget the sins we have done and Go back home. Go back to God and He will fix and arrange our lives according to His plans and His will for our happiness and for His greater glory.
The paralyzed man, when God healed him he experienced the happiness. His strength and very self was restored by God not only his physical body but his soul as well. If we return back home to God, we will be restored, our lives will be fixed and we will live happily with our Heavenly Father in our Final Destination, our Home. HEAVEN…FOREVER!
